GUPPYFRIEND Washing Bag - Sustainable Laundry Bag, Microfiber Catcher, Microplastic Reducer

Microfibers released from washing harm the environment. With each wash, countless plastic fibers from synthetic textiles are making their way from washing machines into rivers and oceans.

The Guppyfriend Washing Bag tackles microplastic pollution! This hands-on solution reduces the amount of microfibers that may enter major waterways from washing.

  1. It reduces fiber shedding and protects your clothes
  2. It filters the few fibers that do break
  3. It’s a daily reminder to change our buying habits and washing rituals

After washing garments in Guppyfriend, remove the microfibers from the bag and throw them away in the trash. If you'd like to ensure they won't end up in our waterways, you can collect the fibers in a sealed glass jar, and toss the glass jar away once it is full of synthetic fibers!

The inside of the bag is slick which leads to reduced abrasion and breaking of fibers. The clothes in the bag undergo less mechanical stress and less friction with other clothes, which prevents fibers from breaking in the first place (by up to 86%!) and a longer lifetime of the textiles!

Size: 29.1 x 19.7 inches (74 x 50 cm)

Material: Polyamid 6.6 untreated

How to use: Fill half-full with synthetic clothing materials, zip closed, wash as usual; remove clothes to hang dry and remove released microfibers found inside the Guppyfriend. Designed for use with synthetic materials (polyester, acrylic, nylon, etc.) The Guppyfriend can also be used as a wash bag for natural fiber clothing.

End of Life: The washing bag is designed in such a way that it can easily be recycled with identical materials at the end of its lifecycle: The whole bag – except the zipper – is made of a single material. Please send your Guppyfriend back at to them at the end of its lifecycle. They will reuse it and eventually recycle it into new Guppyfriend Washing Bags!

It works!

Although I have gradually switched to GOTS certified organic cotton clothing, I still have a few dresses that are made from Viscose / Tencel / Lyocell. At first, I was hesitant to try the GuppyFriend bags because I was afraid that items confined to the bags would not get as clean… I am so glad I finally gave these a try! Everything came out of the wash looking and smelling pristine :) I feel so good knowing I am no longer letting any synthetic micro fibers out into the world via my wash water. GuppyFriend bags are now a celebrated part of my laundry routine!! <3

Performs Well

This bag is about half the size of my washer, and I filled it about half full with synthetics so the clothes could agitate in the wash - 5 or so items. I put in a normal amount of soap, with additional natural fiber clothes outside the bag. My synthetic workout clothes smelled clean when the load was done. I have no way to tell if it's actually preventing fibers from escaping but I'll keep using it with hope that it makes a difference.

Not that great

This bag is alright as a general laundry bag for keeping delicate items separate in a wash load. It is not at all functional for its advertised purpose. I’ve used it for about a dozen washes, and none have produced any microfibers within the bag. I assume that if anyone else has seen the advertised results, their bag is different than mine in some way.

It's perfectly normal if you don't find any microfibers at first. They are very small and often transparent, so they are sometimes difficult to find with the naked eye, especially in a wet bag.

In addition, the Guppyfriend Washing Bag has been designed to prevent microfiber loss at source. Due to the smooth surface and structure of the material, fewer microfibers break off during washing. This ensures that your clothes are protected, pilling is avoided and fiber loss is reduced.

No Washing Micro Pollution

Feel better about reducing the microfiber pollution from every wash. Better than some competitor products that only eliminate about 10% or less and products that have to be replaced frequently.
